Pinesdale, MontanaPinesdale is nestled at the foot of the Bitterroot Mountain Range. Pinesdale borders the Selway Bitterroot Wilderness, which is a 1.3 million-acre wilderness that straddles the Continental Divide on Montana's western border with Idaho. Several canyons take hikers and horseback riders to high mountain lakes to see abundant wildlife. Pinesdale, Montana is a primarily Mormon community that similar to Sula, has no downtown, per se. According to the 2000 U.S. Census Pinesdale, Montana has a larger population than Darby, Montana. West of Pinesdale is the Sheafman Creek Trailhead.
