Darby, Montana

Darby, Montana lies 19 miles north of Sula . The valley is very narrow here, with the Bitterroot Mountains and the Sapphire Mountains nearly coming together. The mountain scenery is nothing short of breathtaking.

The town of Darby is a precious gem. Darby is a true western town with a history steeped in mining, fur trading, logging and ranching.

Darby actually has less population than several towns in the 'Root (our affectionate name for the Bitterroot Valley). Downtown Darby is the Rocky Mountain West at it's very best, minus a dirt Main Street. You wouldn't have to look hard to find a "hitching post".

West of Darby is access to Como Lake and the Rock Creek Trail, Tin Cup Creek Trail, Chaffin Creek Trail and the highest summit in the Bitterroot, Trapper Peak.

East of Darby is some of the finest "trophy mule deer hunting" in the world.
