Snowmobiling Bitterroot National Forest

Horse Creek Hot Springs Snowmobile Trail

Trail Map

adobe reader

Directions:

Take Highway 93 to Conner and head up the West Fork Bitterroot for approximately 32 miles to the Woods Creek Road. There is parking at the Y.

Trail: Take road to the right, FS 5669. Follow this road over the Pass into Idaho and follow signs to Horse Creek Hot Springs. All travel is on Forest Service Roads. This is a scenic trip and there is a camp at Horse Creek Hot Springs. This is an undeveloped hot spring. There is a wooden shack constructed over the springs.

Activities: There is plenty of whitewater rafting, fishing and wildlife photography nearby. This is a wonderful destination and one of my favorite trips at any time of the year.

Skalkaho Snowmobile Area

Directions:

Access to the Skalkaho snowmobile area is two miles south of Hamilton, then 15 miles east on Skalkaho Road, Montana Hwy 38. There is a gate that closes Highway 38 in winter. There is parking for several vehicles with snowmobile trailers prior to the gate.

This is a huge snowmobile area. You can ride to Skalkaho Pass or take several turnoffs and access thousands of acres of winter splendor.

Magruder Corridor Snowmobiling

Hogan Cabin

Trail Creek Road #106 is the main snowmobile route into the area and is marked with Orange diamonds. It is also the flattest route into Hogan Cabin. It is 6 miles to Hogan Cabin on this road.

Available: December 1 through March 31
